What if it were possible to live completely abandoned to love?
What if you could live your entire life for the purpose of bringing hope, joy, and peace, to everything and everyone around you?
What if you could live your life unconcerned with self-centered desires, and simply give yourself in service to God, and the people around you?
What if someone had already lived that kind of a life...
We believe that Jesus lived this way, we believe that His way of life is different, unique ...holy; we believe that Jesus lived a full life, an eternal life, an infinite life; and we believe that He wants to share that life with us. John 10:10
We believe that Jesus is the most amazing person who ever lived. We believe that, if we allow Him to, He will teach us how to live the best kind of life possible; and a life that never ends. Matthew 11:28 However, religion is sometimes turned into many things that have little to do with learning about Jesus and the life that He offers. Sadly we must admit that we too are guilty of doing this; turning Jesus into an excuse to form our own clique, or to control others, or to make ourselves feel better, or to justify living our own way.
What we hope to do is start fresh. What would it look like for a group of people to start a community that was committed to nothing but Jesus? What would that community look like? What would it do? How would those inside it treat each other? How would they treat those outside of it? How would they deal with violence, politics, pollution, housing, occupations, diet, child-rearing; how would they worship, serve, pray, live?
If you want to find out, come be a part of the journey with us. All that is required is a willingness to learn from Jesus.
What we dream about...
We envision a community that seeks to experience, and respond to, the heart of God. We believe that God desires to draw people UPWARD into a relationship with Him; that He desires women and men to “participate in the divine nature.” In being drawn into God Himself, we will begin to experience the community of the triune Godhead, the INWARD life of fellowship with other “members of God’s household.”
As God continues to share with us His very nature, we will begin to experience His broken heart for this world. As God the Son came to “seek and save the lost,” we too will live our lives OUTWARD in a reflection of our Lord’s selfless love for this world. God imparts His very Spirit to us, indwelling and empowering us; as we experience this, we too will begin to live our lives FORWARD, pouring out into others that which has been poured into us.
We envision a church of people who aren’t content to “play” church; who are willing to sacrifice everything they are and have for God.
...people whose repentance burns with a deep longing for God, who deal with sin in their lives according to Jesus words (Matthew 5:29-30).
...people who have a deep and sincere love for others that flows naturally into community transforming acts of blessing, and whose hearts break for the hurting, hopeless, downtrodden, outsiders of our community and our world.
...people who understand the centrality of community to life in the Kingdom.
...people who are committed to the plan for global redemption left to us by Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20); a personal commitment to being a disciple of Jesus, and to raising disciples (who will raise others, etc.); a vision of God’s Kingdom that encompasses all of creation, and not merely a myopic focus on “our” lives or “our” church.
…a community with a vision that encompasses the utter transformation of our entire city, and our entire world, that is expressed in the lives of the people and the life of the Church; from the way we spend our time and money, to the language we use, to the way we treat people, to the building we meet in.
